01 Context
A marketplace without an internal technical team.
OpenH2H is a B2B marketplace where SMEs and digital-product businesses buy and sell prepaid and digital services. The client, a Korean team, had no internal technical staff and needed the platform live on an accelerated timeline. Every requirement had to cross two gaps: between languages, and between business and engineering.
02 My ownership
Owning scope and coordination.
As the client-side Project Manager, I owned the 0-to-1 scope end to end: requirements, planning, schedule, team and vendor coordination, and documentation. Coding, testing and release were executed by the delivery team. My job was to make sure everyone built the same thing, in the same order, on time.
03 Decisions
Write it down, then build.
Because the client could not review code or technical specifications, I ran the project document-first: every requirement, flow and decision was written, confirmed and versioned before development started. I turned the client's business language, often shared in Korean-accented English, into specifications engineers could act on, then back into plain updates the client could approve. Documents, not memories of meetings, became the single source of truth.
Document-first delivery
- Constraint
- Client had no engineers and could not review code or specs.
- The call
- Write, confirm and version every requirement before development.
- Trade-off / result
- One source of truth across a language gap; live in ~2.5 months.
04 Outcomes & lessons
From initial requirements to a production platform.
OpenH2H went from initial requirements to production in about 2.5 months, meeting the client's accelerated target. The platform supports 400K+ transactions a day with 10+ external integrations, including SNAP Banking. It shows how I deliver when the client has no engineering counterpart: clear scope, disciplined communication and documentation that keeps everyone aligned.
