Metro Reload · B2B partnerships

Where I learned the business: the B2B network.

A host-to-host network selling prepaid, postpaid, data and electricity products to businesses. I joined on the support desk, then helped build the partner, supplier and product side.

01 Context

A B2B network, before it had a partner team.

Metro Reload is a B2B host-to-host network: businesses connect by API to sell prepaid, postpaid, data, electricity and other digital products to their own customers. When I joined in 2019 it handled around 300K transactions a day, but there was no structured business development function yet.

02 My ownership

From support cases to the partner side.

I joined on the support desk, handling 100+ transaction cases a day: failed top-ups, disputes and refunds. That showed me where the network broke. In business development (2019–2021) I worked on new partners, new suppliers and new products, new marketing approaches, the customer-service SOP, the product listing and pricing adjustments. I am still involved today at a lighter level; day-to-day work is delegated to the team.

03 Decisions

Standardise first, then scale.

The choice I would highlight is sequencing. Adding partners, suppliers and products at the same time multiplies support cases and pricing mistakes. So the groundwork came first: a customer-service SOP so cases were handled the same way every time, one product listing, and clear rules for pricing adjustments. New partners and products were then added on top of that base, which is what made onboarding in 3–7 days repeatable.

Standardise before adding volume

Constraint
More partners, suppliers and products at once meant more support cases and pricing errors.
The call
Put the CS SOP, one product listing and pricing rules in place first.
Trade-off / result
Slower first additions; then onboarding became repeatable in 3–7 days.

04 Outcomes & lessons

A network that kept growing.

Metro Reload now serves 2,600+ H2H clients with 2,500+ product denominations and handles around 1.2 million transactions a day, up from about 300K when I joined, at a success rate on par with Cashplus (~96%). That growth came from many people and teams; my part was the partner, supplier and product groundwork that let the network take on more volume.
